The end of summer

Another thing I talked with my neighbor about was, basically, the idea of why paint. He had asked me what I do with all the work I produce. Do I hang it on my walls, store it, give it away?

I sell it! Or rework it! And sell it! I don’t do it to sell, rather I sell it so I can do more. It’s that straight forward.

I’m often asked if it is hard to let go of a painting. Sometimes. If I still have more to learn from it. If I haven’t yet understood it. But the need to move on is stronger, usually, so I don’t let many paintings stay around. The ones I have kept are small and often the first of a new idea. The bigger ones have to find themselves a proper home.
