In painting, there’s a lot to be said for taking a second look. And a third and fourth and so on. Until it feels completely right. It’s like second and third drafts in writing stories. And maybe even when meeting people.
At first when my paintings began changing, I was so excited, it felt like I could do no wrong. Now I feel much more critical and discerning. Probably I have a more clear idea of what I am doing and where I am going. More clear, yes, but it is still an open game. No rules; no end point.
