Crystal Crescent

Joanne, Aaron and I went to Crystal Crescent Beach (in Sambro) last Saturday afternoon. It was a windy and sunny day. We wandered around the shore and enjoyed the sea breezes.

I hadn’t been to Sambro for several years.  In fact, I don’t remember the last time I was there.  When Aaron and I first moved to Nova Scotia, we lived there, in Sambro, a small fishing village, very picturesque. But at that time some of the people hadn’t even been into Halifax or if they had, not too many times. And we were looked on as strange foreigners.  It wasn’t an easy place to feel at home.  It seems more built up now, more suburban almost.

When we lived there, I would take my dogs (I had two Golden Retrievers then) to Crystal Crescent for a run. If they happened to wander out of our yard, my next door neighbor would threaten to shoot them. It really wasn’t an easy place for me to feel at home.
