Blue skies from now, originally uploaded by leyaevelyn.
Sunday evening I went to a concert/dance performance that was on the grounds of the sculptor/blacksmith, John Little. As musicians played Little’s musical sculptures, dancers performed in the open spaces of the land and sea. Mermaids hung over the sides of a fishing boat, the steady beat of a smithy’s hammer beat, stories were told about the life of John Little, while we walked from place to place along the shore and on the land.
The finale took place on a large rock that took the shape of a huge whale. On top of the rock, two dancers in heavy black coats and two musicians played on one of Little’s sculptures attached to the top of the rock. All were dressed in black and contrasted against a perfect sunset: the sky was clear with just the right amount of clouds–blues, yellows, pinks, orange. As I sat there mesmerized by the beauty of it all, I momentarily thought of taking a photo. But I couldn’t. It was too perfect to spoil. I didn’t want to miss a second of being immediately with the event.
